A New Home for Heron Drums
I am delighted to share that Heron Drums has a new home.
After a year in the wild, I once again have a dedicated space for crafting these sacred medicine tools, and it feels wonderful to be beginning this next chapter.
When I closed the doors on the Heron Drums workshop in Canterbury at Summer Solstice, 2025, I knew I wanted to allow one chapter to fully close before rushing into the next. More than simply finding another workshop space, I wanted to spend time listening to this new land here in Ireland, feeling into what it was asking of me, and discovering how this craft and this work wished to continue in a new place.
Alongside that has come all of the practical work of beginning again, registering the business, finding the right space, and laying the foundations for the future.
There is something rather magical in the timing of it all. Almost exactly one year after closing the doors on Heron Drums HQ in Canterbury, everything seemed to come together around the Summer Solstice once again. The paperwork was completed, the keys were collected, and Heron Drums found its new home here in Drumkeeran, County Leitrim.
This workshop will become the new home of Heron Drums HQ, a dedicated space for crafting shamanic drums. Already, a number of drums have been birthed here, and it has been a joy to hear the first heartbeats of new drums filling the space.
When I left the workshop in the UK, I left behind years of accumulated shelves, storage, workbenches, furniture and equipment. I travelled lightly to Ireland, so this new workshop is starting almost from scratch. It will take time for shelves and furniture to be built, and for everything to gradually grow into its own character. I am looking forward to allowing that to happen naturally. Rather than trying to recreate what was before, this workshop has the opportunity to become something new in its own right.
One of the things I am most excited about is that this space is not only somewhere to craft drums. It is also large enough to become a place for people to gather. In time, I hope it will host Drumming Circles, Shamanic Drum Birthing workshops, Spirit of the Drum workshops, and many more gatherings that bring people together around the drum and the deeper relationship it invites with ourselves and the living world.
It feels good to be settling into a rhythm again, and I am excited to see what will emerge from this place over the coming years.
Finally, I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this move, for your encouragement, patience and kind words over the past year. I look forward to sharing many more drums from this new workshop, and I hope to welcome many of you here for future circles and workshops.
Here's to the next chapter.
